Library of Congress presents Augustin Hadelich and Orion Weiss
Now streaming on demand
Violinist Augustin Hadelich plays with an undeniable maturity beyond his years and artistry reminiscent of classical music’s Golden Age. Named Musical America’s Instrumentalist of the Year in 2018, Hadelich has consistently established himself as a performer of poise and virtuosity. Here, Hadelich and pianist Orion Weiss present a mélange of short Spanish works along with Debussy’s last composition (the sonata for violin and piano). The concert concludes with Beethoven’s monumental “Kreutzer” Sonata.

Live at Wigmore Hall presents JACK Quartet and Danny Driver
Premiering on Friday, October 29
JACK Quartet:  Christopher Otto, violin; Austin Wulliman, violin; John Pickford Richards, viola; Jay Campbell, cello
Danny Driver, piano
Alongside the five contrasting movements of Ligeti’s Second Quartet (1968) are Thomas Adès’ Piano Quintet (2000), and the second (2007) of a series of works called Cineshape by the American composer Amy Williams, each inspired by a different film – in this instance Mike Figgis’ Time Code. The 14th-century French composer Rodericus is known for just the one ballade – a work of unusual rhythmical complexity which Ligeti might have appreciated; it is heard in an arrangement by a member of the quartet.
