Exactly one year ago this past Saturday, on March 6, 2020, the curtain in the PepsiCo Theatre rose for what would turn out to be the final performance of our 2019-2020 season. Do you remember?
It Gets Better used song, storytelling, and multimedia to share real stories from gay, lesbian, transgender, and straight allies from around the country. It was the culmination of a week of engagement activities on campus. The cast was joined on stage by members of the White Plains-based LOFT Pride Chorus and individual singers from the Purchase College community.
It was a heartfelt and moving communal experience of the kind we have all sorely missed. But as we mark this strange milestone, let’s remember the title and message of that evening. It Gets Better. And we will continue to do the work, inviting you into our virtual living room, until such a time as we have reached “better” and can meet in person again.
